FAQ - What is the purpose of a temporary roof scaffold?
It keeps the interior and work zones dry during major roof replacements, loft conversions, or structural refurbishments where the building cannot be exposed to weather.

FAQ - How much does a temporary roof scaffold cost?

FAQ - What is the maximum height of a mobile tower?
Free-standing mobile towers can reach up to 12 meters indoors, and 8 meters outdoors, depending on the dimensions of the base.

FAQ - What is the 'working height' of a scaffold tower?
The 'Working Height' is the highest point that can be reached safely when standing on the tower platform.   As a guide, the maximum working height for a mobile scaffold tower is defined to be 2 metres above the platform (comfortably within reach for the average worker ).

FAQ - What is the 3 to 1 rule for scaffolding?
This ratio rule for scaffolding states that, for mobile or free-standing scaffolds, the height must not exceed three times the length of the shortest side of its base.

FAQ - Is it possible to exceed this limit?
If you need to build higher than the 3-to-1 ratio allows, you must use outriggers, stabilisers, or tie the structure to a secure building.

FAQ - Are harnesses necessary when working on mobile scaffolding?
Industrial Health & Safety standards require that all scaffolders wear a 'fall arrest harness' when more than 4m (approx. 13 feet ) above ground, assuming a stable platform, with edge protection in place.

FAQ - Can mobile scaffolds be moved with a person on it?
No!   A mobile scaffold should never be moved whilst a worker, (or tools / materials ), are on the platform.   Always clear the platform completely before it is moved.

FAQ - Can we stand a ladder on the platform?
No, ladders should never be used from scaffolding platform at height.

FAQ - Do your scaffold towers have integrated ladders?
Yes.   All PODIA^TM scaffold towers are designed to allow access to the platform without the need for additional ladders.

FAQ - Is there a wind speed limit for outdoor working?
Mobile scaffolding should not be used in wind speeds over 17 mph. . .  and the tower should be secured in winds over 27 mph.

FAQ - Is a scaffold required for all solar installations?
Obviously, if your panels are ground mounted, no scaffolding is needed.   For installation on flat roofs with parapet walls, an alternative fall-protection system may be used instead of full perimeter scaffolding.

The HSE (Health and Safety Executive ) do not classify roof-mounted solar installations as short-duration work, meaning that ladders alone do not provide sufficient protection.

FAQ - What happens if we exceed the agreed hire period?
We understand that circumstances beyong your control (such as adverse weather ) can affect completion times, and so we are happy to work with you should delays occur due to inclement weather.

FAQ - What if my scaffold is likely to impinge on the public highway?
If this is the case you will require a Local Authority street licence, which we are happy to apply for on your behalf.

FAQ - How much is a scaffold street licence?
It varies from Council to Council, so if a licence is necessary, we will advise you of the cost in your area.

FAQ - How long would such a licence remain valid?
In most Council areas in Wales, street licences are usually issued for a 4 week (or 1 month ) period.   If your project is anticipated to last longer than this, you are required to apply for an extension.

FAQ - How much insurance do you hold?
PODIA^TM carry £5 million Public Liability Insurance and a similar amount of Employer's Liability so you can be assured that we are both comprehensively covered.

FAQ - Do I need to be on site during scaffold erecting?
No. . .  so long as our team is able to gain access to the area, you do not need to be there.
